QUICK MOUNT PV - BORN IN THE TRADES, COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE OF SOLAR
Quick Mount PV designs and manufactures innovative waterproof mounting systems for rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, HVAC systems, communications equipment, solar hot water systems, and just about anything one might need to attach to a roof.
Founded in 2006 by Stuart and Claudia Wentworth, Quick Mount PV is the natural outgrowth of their 20 years in the metal fabrication, green building and construction trades. As solar PV installers for seven years before launching the company, the Wentworths saw far too many mounting methods in use that were doomed to failure, posing a threat to the burgeoning solar PV industry's reputation.
So, with a passion for solar energy and a deep commitment to doing solar right, the Wentworths founded Quick Mount PV to bring a quick, cost-effective, completely code-compliant waterproof mounting system to the industry.
Quick Mount PV products were an instant hit in a market hungry for quality mounting solutions.
The company is the classic story that everyone constantly preaches about: family owned business who designed innovative products to make solar mounting fast, easy, code compliant, and made in the USA! They have been pressured to manufacture in China to bring prices down and compete but have maintained focus on their mission to remain an American manufacturer and over the years they have grown from 5 employees to over 20 and still growing. Huge companies have gotten grants to start and support their manufacturing, but Quick Mount PV has been doing solar since 2000 and they have proudly built their company without any government backing. Quick Mount PV is working harder than any other manufacturer to improve quality on the roof when installing solar and thermal systems. The company recently got their Composition Mount and Shake Mount ICC certified. They have also designed all their mounts to meet and exceed all the appropriate roofing codes, and the efforts were awarded – Quick Mount just recently received a letter of approval from GAF/Elk (largest roofing manufacture in North America) stating that QM’s Composition Mount does NOT void their roof product warranty. This is a huge step forward!
In a brief conversation with Johan Alfsen, Quick Mount PV International Training Manager, he mentioned some things to look for when starting a job and, of course, prior to roof penetration. “There are typically 2 kinds of warranties to pay attention to when penetrating the roof: 1) The product warranty (manufacturer) And 2) The workmanship warranty (unique to the roofer who installs the roof). The GAF letter we received covers #1 and since we are also ICC certified the roofer should have no problem with our mounts going into his roof - which would then cover #2. It's amazing to see how much has changed in the industry from 2006 when I first took on this battle of connecting the solar industry with the roofing industry. I’m happy to say that I’m not the only one and letters like this are proving our hard work to be successful! “
